 Una clase típica...

El Calendario

A topical Spanish class begins with a student presenting the calendar information in Spanish.  Students have the option of simply presenting the information or asking questions of their classmates.  Each day we talk about the date, the day of the week, which classes we have or do not have, the season, and the weather.

Interactive Story

Much of what we do in Spanish includes interactive stories that focus on three or four target vocabulary structures.  I narrate the story with details provided by the students.  We check in for understanding frequently, asking a variety of yes/no, either/or, or simple response questions.  Students answer the way they feel most comfortable:  in Spanish, in English, or with a gesture.

After our storytelling is complete we'll do a variety of activities based on the finished tale.  We might draw the story, act it out, take some true/false quizzes, re-order it, write a new ending, or bend the characters to change the story.

Ask your student to share the current class story with you.

Student Choice

Students are given the autonomy and independence that they can handle.  If we finish our work early, there are a variety of independent options that students can work on.  Some of these are on the google classroom  while others are paper and pencil activities available in the classroom.  Ask your student about some of the activities that are available to them.

PS.  This student is not reading upside down!  The book has two versions, and one starts from the back!
