My name is Señora Elena and I am so happy to be teaching Spanish at Barnard Academy. I have taught elementary Spanish in the Windsor Central Supervisory Union for fifteen years and have taught at each of our district schools at one time or another (and even a few that are now closed). I favor a communicative approach to language learning that incorporates culture through the use of authentic resources. Language is best learned when there is a communicative purpose. The instructional methods used in class are proven to be effective based on forty years of second language acquisition research.
