Legends and Lost Dogs

What we've been doing...

    en el quinto grado...

Fifth grade students recently heard La leyenda del cempasúchil or The Legend of the Marigold.  This is an ancient Aztec legend explaining why marigolds bloom at the same time that hummingbirds arrive in Michoacán, México on their annual migration.  Ask your student to tell you a little bit about the story.

    ... en el sexto grado...

Sixth grade students have been telling a new story about a boy who no sabe where his dog is.  The boy no encuentra the dog in the school library, though he does find un esqueleto, which does not concern the principal even one bit.  After the boy busca the dog in various locations, the mystery is solved and everyone lives happily ever after, the end.  The stories are based on input provided from the students, so each class has slightly different details.  Ask your students to tell you the story, and also to help you out with the italicized vocabulary!
